Hardwood Floor Cleaning in Pompano Beach, FL

  • Typical cost: Homewyse's January 2026 estimate for a basic professional clean of a hardwood floor is $0.64 to $0.78 a square foot. A worn finish needs a maintenance coat, priced separately.
  • Oiled floors: Rubio Monocoat's maintenance oil dries in 6 to 8 hours, and the floor gets only a damp cloth for the first week.
  • Two rules: NWFA care guidelines say never to wet-mop a wood floor and never to use a steam cleaner on it.

Pompano Wood Flooring takes cleaning requests to a floor-care tech; ask for the cleaner to be matched to the finish on your boards. The work runs from a deep clean that pulls grit out of bevels and gaps, through maintenance coats on polyurethane and oil refreshes on hardwax-oil floors, to a check on the pet and water spots that cleaning can't reach.

Hardwood Floor Cleaning and Care Services

Which service fits depends on the finish. Polyurethane, factory finishes and hardwax oils each have their own cleaner and their own way of being topped up.

Professional deep clean

Homewyse's basic estimate covers removing debris and dust, applying cleaner sparingly and wiping the floor dry with a microfiber mop. A deeper clean goes after what sits below the surface. The NWFA's recoating guidance describes extracting dirt and contamination from beveled edges, gaps and open knots, using a cleaner the finish manufacturer recommends. Tell the tech what finish is on the floor and what you've been cleaning it with.

Maintenance coat when the finish has dulled

Cleaning can't put back finish that has worn away. NWFA care guidelines say that when the floor loses its luster, it's time for a recoat: a light screening of the old finish and one fresh coat, explained on the screen and recoat page. The order matters. The NWFA's recoating article says to clean before testing and before any maintenance coat, because wax, grease and many maintenance products can stop the new finish from bonding.

Hardwax-oil floor maintenance

Oiled floors are kept up with oil, not with a polyurethane coat. Rubio Monocoat's data sheet for its Universal Maintenance Oil says to apply it just before the color fades, with timing set by traffic. The floor is cleaned with the maker's soap and water, rinsed and left to dry, then the oil goes on in small sections and each one is wiped off within 15 minutes. Where the surface shows too much wear or the color needs repair, the sheet calls for the original colored oil instead.

  • Dry time (Rubio): 6 to 8 hours.
  • First week after: a damp cloth only, then the maker's soap.

Pet and water spots: where cleaning stops

Cleaning works on the finish. Once a mark is in the wood, it's a repair. The NWFA's recoating article lists what survives maintenance: dents, gouges and scratches stay in the surface, worn traffic lanes take finish differently, and permanently cupped boards stay cupped. NWFA care guidelines say standing water can cause cracks, splits, cupping, warping and discoloring residue, and they suggest keeping pet claws trimmed. For dark spots or lifted boards, ask for hardwood floor repair or water-damaged floor repair instead.

Cleaning Products That Can Block a Future Recoat

What goes on the floor between visits decides whether a recoat stays an option later. NWFA care guidelines say improper cleaning products can void manufacturer and labor warranties and cause adhesion problems with future maintenance coats.

  • Wax

The NWFA's recoating article names wax among the contaminants that stop finish from bonding, and says a waxed floor should be rewaxed where possible.
  • Acrylic polish

It has to be removed completely before any new finish goes on.
  • "Shine" and "polish" cleaners

A sponsored Hardwood Floors magazine piece warns they can leave film or wax that makes a screen and recoat hard to do without strong strippers or a full refinish.
  • Your own product list

Keep the name of every cleaner used on the floor. It's the first thing a recoat test will want to rule out.

Wood Floor Care Through a Pompano Beach Summer

The National Weather Service dates southeast Florida's summer season from about May 21 to October 17, with dew points in the low to mid 70s. NWFA care guidelines call for a dehumidifier in the summer or wet months and a steady indoor climate all year, so the boards move as little as possible.

  • Rugs at doors and the sink

NWFA suggests breathable rugs inside and outside doorways and in front of the kitchen sink and stove, the spots where cupping usually starts.
  • Rugs after a recoat

Keep them off a newly finished floor for at least seven days, and heavy appliances off for three.
  • Seasonal homes

A house shut with the AC off can drift outside the humidity range floor makers set.
